The cottage we booked was not available. We were given alternative substandard loft accommodation close by. This accommodation had no tea / coffee facilities and looked as if the furniture had come from the op shop ... all this for $220 for the night. Have had no response to my text to the vineyard cottage people on this sub standard alternative.

Ingrid. Thanks for your comments. Let’s be very clear, the cottage you booked was not available as it had been wrecked by the previous nights guests. This is the first time a guest has left our stunning property in such a state we couldn’t offer it to other guests.
I offered you another night with late check out, champagne and a platter which you rejected. I sought other beautiful accommodation elsewhere for you (Early Settler is hardly op shop) and provided you with a beautiful bottle of wine and other goodies in a little hamper. When we arrived at the other accommodation there was bubbles and snacks for you provided by the host at her cost. You received much more value than you originally booked.
In reply to responding to your text - I didn’t, I sent an email to you instead.
We did our VERY best to accommodate you on your birthday in a horrid situation. I’m not sure what else you expected. We were honest with you and did our best at our own cost to find a resolution.
If you really think a review like this is ok, then we can’t do anything about it, but I know in my heart of hearts that we went above and beyond for you and this is massively unfair.
