Welcome to Braemar House an historic, restored tasty B&B and separate YHA hostel nestled alongside the Whanganui River. Hours 1000 - 2100 NOTE WE ARE UNABLE RECEIVE GUESTS AFTER 2100 Upon entering the homestead you take a walk back in time and enjoy a glimpse of early NZ colonial life. An ambience rich huge hallway leads off down to the B&B annexe of eight bedrooms period designed, centrally heated, comprising both twin and double bedrooms some opening onto the verandah. Back along the generous hallway this flows through to an elegant drawing room and thence on to the large dining room. Separately, and in its own annexe on the property, is a twenty-two bedded YHA Hostel, comprising of dormatories, private rooms (twin and doubles) and both small and large family rooms, some ensuited. Large commercial kitchen, dining room and Tv lounge. Full laundry facilities available also off street parking. Wifi broadband internet available, or computer booths. (Global Gossip) the whole complex sits in glorious sub tropical gardens, featuring many unusual fruit trees, plants and nz native plants.

Related options

Take a trip up the river on the famous river road mail run which picks up daily from the front of the homestead.
Check out Castlecliff beach which is approx 6k from the city.
A visit to the city museum and the sergeant gallery are a must.
We are approx 1 hours drive to the volcanic skifields in winter and the world famous Tongariro Crossing in the summer.
Cafes and restaurants within three minute walk of the homestead.
Book a jet boat ride on the upper reaches of the river, or you can choose from a selection of 1 2 3 4 5 day trips canoeing down the river.
