It has the largest & most developed ski area, Whakapapa, Turoa & Tukino and in summer the best one day trek trek in New Zealand. Plateau Lodge is the perfect place to base yourself, our Lodge has all the comforts from soaking in our Hot tub, BBQ or Free WIFI at your fingertips, we are close to bars and restaurants you are never too far from the action. We are the closest point to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and Mt Ruaphehu Crater Climb. On site is our own personalized shuttle service that operates transport to the start of the Tongariro Crossing, Northern Circuit & Whakapapa Village. Plateau shuttles have pick up points throughout National Park & Raurimu.

Summer time sees hiking galore with the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, Northen Circuit and Mt Ruapehu Crater as well as the ever popular mountain biking tracks, the 42 Traverse and Fishers Track. If river sports are more your style then you can't go past the Whanganui and Whakapapa rivers.

Winter brings a beautiful white wonderland with Whakapapa Ski Area, the largest in New Zealand just 20mins and Turoa Ski Area 50mins drive away
