Turangi/ Taupo attractions and activities are dominated by the three imposing volcanic peaks of the Tongariro National Park which tower over this pristine New Zealand adventure-land. Skiing on Mount Ruapehu and some of the most captivating mountain walks in the world are only a short 40-minute drive from River Birches.

Turangi offers an 18-hole golf course, white-water rafting on the Tongariro and canoeing through the surrounding wetlands. Walkers will enjoy the river walkway alongside River Birches and the many other scenic walks in the area.
