Two modern cosy waterfront cottages provide the perfect getaway for couples (sorry no children). Sanctuary in the Cove is a private paradise by the water - it has been described as "a seldom found jewel where once is never enough". Secluded, peaceful & private 3 acres of landscaped grounds with 120 metres of your own water frontage. Bush walks and a hidden gorgeous water garden with spectacular waterfall, enable guests to feel that they are completely isolated from the busy outside world. The grounds are also secure behind locked security gates. Each cottage (Cove and Pohutukawa) is a fully self-contained home away from home. The cottages comprise 2 queen bed bedrooms and can therefore accommodate 2 couples travelling together. Guests can enjoy many water activities (kayaking, boating, boogie boards, fishing, snorkelling etc). An in-cottage massage service is available and for our golfing guests we offer discounted green fees at the internationally renown Kauri Cliffs and Carrington golf courses.

Related options

While staying at Sanctuary in the Cove guests have free use of kayaks and snorkelling equipment. A dingy can be used for close to shore fishing and guests can also charter us for power boat fishing/ sightseeing. The broader environs of Doubtless Bay are famous for their many unspoilt and unpopulated beaches, nature walks, golfing and as a base for day trips to Cape Reinga (the top of the north), 90 mile beach and the nearby Kauri forests. A variety of tours and activities can be arrnaged through the local Information Centre. Of course many of our guests choose to take advantage of the secluded nature of their private waterfront cottage by just chilling-out on their beachfront lawns!
