Located at the southern end of Lake Taupo, Sportsmans Lodge is the hidden accommodation gem of the Lake Taupo district and has a unique, tranquil character of its own. Its relaxed and comfortable surroundings has special appeal for fly fishermen, skiers and snowboarders, walkers, travellers and visitors to the Tongariro National Park. It is right on the doorstep of some of the world's most famous fishing waterways, just 30 minutes drive to Mt Ruapehu's ski fields, Turoa and Whakapapa, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and many of the other amazing National Park walks and other outdoor activities such as mountain biking and white water rafting. Transport to and from these activities can be arranged through the Lodge office. Out the Lodge back gate there is the walking trail the follows the Tongariro River; perfect for a late afternoon stroll to unwing after travelling. The Lodge, set in a picturesque garden, has nine quality, comfortable, inexpensive double/twin single rooms with private ensuites.
