Built in 1904 as a large family villa, the Tamara Lodge is an outstanding example of Whanganui?s Edwardian Architecture. The Tamara Lodge strives to offer a superior standard within the backpacker (World Traveller) category of accommodation. A warm welcome is only the start as you enjoy our spacious lodge overlooking the majestic Whanganui River with views of Mt Ruapehu. It is just 5 minutes walk to the city. We regard our space as an oasis of relaxation! The large garden is enticing and the hammocks welcoming with lots of other garden furniture so you can find your perfect spot. With decent sized lounge areas inside the house there is plenty of room there too. Piano and guitar are also available.
