The Nunnery, Te Aroha

The Nunnery is a brick and tile building built in 1977 to house The Sisters of Mercy who taught at the neighbouring school. It is situated in a quiet residential area within easy walking distance of Te Aroha township and its attractions. The Nunnery has a semi-detached studio unit and in the main accommodation wing has 3 double and 2 single bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities. All the bedrooms have their own wash basins and rooms 2-5 have air conditioners. Room 1 has a heater/fan cooler. The guests have use of the guest lounge and deck. In the lounge is a heat pump, TV, fridge, toaster, microwave and kettle with complimentary tea and coffee provided. Te Aroha is best known for its mountain of the same name and its thermal mineral pools. The Waihou River also runs through the town. Popular activities for visitors are a soak in the pools, tramping, and mountain biking and walking the wetlands. The town has a good selection of restaurants catering for most food types.
