Forget roses, chocolates and candlelit dinners, 96%* of New Zealanders want to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a romantic night away or a holiday this year, yet only 1% have made a booking according to new Wotif.co.nz research.
One in four (26%) Kiwis said they had taken a Valentine’s Day getaway in the past and with 99% saying they wish they could take more holidays as a couple than the average of two each year, romantic breaks are high on the relationship priority list.

The old adage that ‘Mum’s the boss’ is ringing true when it comes to family travel as Kiwi mothers take control of holiday destination decisions according to brand new research released today from holiday website Wotif.co.nz.
Dads are trailing behind Mums (8% vs. 46% respectively) when it comes to choosing the perfect family holiday spot while kids and grandparents share distant influence at 2%, and 1% respectively. Read more

Reading hotel reviews is as essential for New Zealand travellers as checking their passport is up to date before a trip, with 92% admitting to reading reviews and almost half (48%) saying they always refer to them for travel bookings, according to research from Wotif.
The survey of more than 4,000 Kiwis revealed most (92%) use hotel reviews to help decide between different hotel options. More than half (54%) read between one and five reviews before making a booking, and more than a third (36%) read between six and 10 reviews.

Culture, beaches and 5 star hotels all feature on Kiwi’s wish list for their ultimate travel destination but Queenstown is the favourite New Zealand holiday spot, according to a recent survey by leading travel website Wotif
Wotif spokesperson, Kirsty La Bruniy said that 98% of respondents revealed they had a favourite domestic holiday spot.
“Queenstown took out the top spot for the best New Zealand destination, followed by Wellington and Nelson,” Ms La Bruniy said.
“It proves that Queenstown isn’t just popular with international visitors, but that New Zealanders also love what the resort town has to offer.

Despite Nelson coming out on top in the recent battle of the cities, it’s Queenstown’s turn to earn the bragging rights for the top rated hotel or apartments in New Zealand, according to reviews on leading travel website Wotif.
Wotif has analysed more than 180,000 New Zealand customer reviews to find the favourite places to stay in New Zealand’s top destinations – with Wotif reviewers rating Millbrook Resort in Queenstown, the best hotel or apartment.
Australia and New Zealand Product Director, Donna Rodios said Millbrook had taken the top spot with an overall review score from Wotif reviewers of 4.74 (out of 5).
