Things to Do in Bora Bora

There’s just not enough time to tell you about all the fun stuff you can get into while hanging in French Polynesia. Would you like to have a life-changing experience with creatures of the deep? Go on a stingray dive and get up close and personal with these funky fishes. You’ll be able to feed, pet and even take selfies with them while they glide through the lagoon. If that’s not enough, up the ante and go on a shark-feeding excursion. Just be sure you don’t end up as lunch!

It’s easy to think that since you’re on an island there’s only watery activities, but hold on just a second. Before heading back to your Bora Bora accommodation—which may or may not be on pillars over the water—take a 4x4 excursion through the island’s interior roads. You’ll wind your way up to some of the highest points on the island. Wave down to the folks below, but they probably won’t see you.

Getting to & Around Bora Bora

Believe it or not, there’s an airport here that you can fly into. Bora Bora Airport (BOB) is located on the nearby islet of Motu Mute. From there you’ll hop on a skiff for the short ride to paradise. Public transport on the island is limited to a single bus. Some of the hotels in Bora Bora are actually located on pillars over the water, so a boat service is required to get to the main island. Don’t worry; they’re short trips. When you reach land, rent a bike or small buggy if you want control of your own exploration.
