Good experience. Not really the best set-up for socializing but the restaurant next door takes care of that. Very clean and felt comfortable during my whole stay.

Great location, clean room.

Pros: Good price, handy location
Cons: Provide Facecloths
Location: Good area and close to CBD
Enjoyed our stay, good value for money, would happily stay again, Would suggest they provide facecloths as this was about the only thing we felt it was missing.

return to Allstars

Pros: the friendly staff, the lovely look of the place.
Cons: an extra key for the room
Been here lots of times still love the place. Someone has spilt coffee or something on the carpet a steam cleaner would be handy for the cleaners. my main annoyance is only one key, which means one person us left hanging around waiting to get in. Not enough to deter us we will be back in a couple of weeks.

I understand the need for drivers licence ID, credit card details and bond for overseas travelers but i don't think it is necessary for NZ residents. When travelling on business these hassles are undesirable.

Sweet As

We stayed recently at All Stars Inn on Bealy Ave. The area was pleasent, the room and shared areas were clean and tidy, they have great WiFi connectivity and it is very handy to the pub! It's store is another bonus and the staff are all very helpful. Although our time there was short, we had a great stay and would stay again.

Cheap, clean & central

Pros: Very friendly front of house staff & helped you if you needed anything.
Cons: Maybe rubber mats to stand on once you get out of the shower ... had to stand in water while trying to get dressed from the previous person showering.
Location: The location was great & central to most things in the city.
This place is great for everyone but for us 'older' ones that might need the toilet in the night, maybe better not to stay here as you have to go down the hall to visit the bathroom. Apart from that, the place was very clean & the bathrooms/toilets were cleaned early in the morning & again at night. We had breakfast at the 'Speight's Ale House' next door & were impressed with the 'Continental' & cooked breakfast that was available at a reduced price if you are staying at 'All Stars' on Bealey Ave.( $7- & $19-) Can be a bit noisy at night as it's just off Bealey Ave which has alot of traffic going past until the early hours.

Hi Barbara Thank you for staying at our hostel and glad that you enjoy it. Guess you were staying in a private room without bathroom? We have bathrooms/toilets on both ground and second floor, just want to be more convenience for our value guests. We also have another type private en-suite room here, so you can go to toilets more easier whenever you want :) Thank you for taking time to write us a review and hope to see you again in future!

Hostel, not hotel

We booked this knowing that it was a hostel, a double room with private ensuite. We weren't expecting 5 stars service. However, we did not expect to drop our bags and the receptionist not to even raise her eyes to acknowledge us. Rudely told us where to go. Lots of people sleeping in hallways and 'hanging around'. Check in took 45+ plus minutes. Line was out the door and down ramp. Finally checked in, get to door and key doesn't work. Had to line up for another 20 minutes to get key to work. Staff were rude and unapologetic. Get access to room, large enough, clean enough. Tried to turn on tv - remote doesn't work. Line up for another 15 minutes to ask for new batteries. Staff were rude, belittling and unapologetic. The room appeared clean at first glance but the mugs were filthy and worse was the suspicious white stains over the bed spread. We stayed here because we had an early flight and only needed a place to crash. TL:DR: backpackers not hotel. Lower expectations or stay somewhere else for same $$$ and better quality.
