We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom - in room number 5. Would recommend people to not request room 5 as I can imagine other rooms would have been more comfortable. Room 5 is kind of isolated, right next to the reception room and quite far from the toilets/showers in that you have to go downstairs then up different stairs. Room lighting was also quite dark. There are signs to keep quiet after 10.30pm but it was the manager and his friends who were the noisiest after that time which was ironic. Generally though it was a comfortable stay and felt clean.

Thanks very much for taking the time to leave us your feedback - we've already put a brighter bulb in the room thanks to it :-) Our Economy Double room is indeed further from bathrooms than our standard Doubles, but does mean we ask less for it for those prioritising their budget. Whilst we do like being a small and sociable lodge, making sure our guests get a good night's sleep is absolutely a priority and we do take it very seriously so it's not alright that it carried to your room and we're sorry we could've done better! Glad you liked our clean and comfy home-away-from-home though and hope we can welcome you in again some day!

Great friendly staff, room comfortable.

Pros: Terrific staff, lovely building ... very comfortable. We saw hedgehogs on our first night and this was a cool experience for us.
Cons: Cannot think of anything to improve, heaps of hot water and both guests and staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Location: This was a great starting off place to our NZ trip ... plenty of things to do around Christchurch including the gondola. Very pretty spot.
We enjoyed so very much our first night in Christchurch staying in Haka Lodge. The staff were excellent, friendly and accommodating. The lodge is close to facilities such as shops etc, and is quite lovely inside. We found it very warm and inviting. There were many brochures to enable travellers to find local points of interest, together with further suggestions for more distant areas in New Zealand. Very highly recommend this lovely spot ... would stay there again anytime!

Nice place but as alcohol allowed for teens !!

Separate portion was good but as I need a single room & they insisted to have twin including lounge so out of my limited budget..

As we are a very popular, small establishment we cannot guarantee the room of your choice or budget will be available unless you book in advance unfortunately. Good value for the price.

It was just a room. No ensuite. Shared bathrooms of which one was not working. Guess it's good value for the price tag. The shared kitchen, living room etc was good and chilled out. You'll love the place provided you are in the <30 age bracket! I would definitely recommend it to my younger friends.

Pros: Helpful staff, very cosy and clean
Cons: The weather on both occasions i stayed
Facilities: Home away from home; Cleanliness: Spotless; Second time I have stayed here. I wanted somewhere to chill and watch tv in bed before my flight back to Australia. Highly recommend.

Cons: Cleanses of bed sheet. Smell like someone wore intense perfume and it he smell lingered
