    Accommodation In South Island

There's no denying it: New Zealand's South Island has some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world and you'll be right in the thick of it when you stay in one of our South Island hotels.

    Things to do

When it comes to incredible alpine views, you can't go past Mount Cook, New Zealand's tallest mountain. Here, you'll explore Aoraki Mount Cook National Park and go kayaking on glacial lakes. Intermediate to advanced level skiers can also try the country's longest ski run, the Tasman Glacier. However, if your skiing skills aren't quite up to scratch, you can always head to Mt Hutt for a less hardcore yet equally enjoyable ski trip.

Mt Hutt is about midway between Mt Cook and Christchurch, so if you've got the time, it's well-worth continuing on to the re-imagined city that has been revived since the 2011 quakes. In Christchurch, you'll be delighted by the locals' creativity with their pop-up bars, cafes and shopping malls, created in what seemed like doomed circumstances. While you're here, make sure you pay a visit to some of the local gardens too, because this is, after all, the "Garden City" of the world!

Another great city for a skiing holiday is Queenstown, which hosts the annual American Express Queenstown Winter Festival. Queenstown is also known as the "bungy capital of the world" and offers a range of other extreme sports, if you're looking for a quick thrill.

On the other hand, if it's a beach holiday you're after, make sure you visit Abel Tasman Park and explore some of its ten national parks, too. Wine connoisseurs will enjoy the famous sauvignon blanc in nearby Marlborough and, if you're a history buff, make sure you take the trip to the far south and visit Dunedin, New Zealand's oldest city, with strong Scottish roots. Dunedin is also home to Australasia's only castle, Larnach Castle and hosts the ever-popular Cadbury Chocolate Carnival in July.

    Getting here

There's so much to see and do in the south of New Zealand and with our fantastic range of South Island accommodation, and flights to Queenstown you're sure to find something that suits your needs and budget, so book your room today!

"Central easy walking to cafes, shops, market, "
Excellent hotel and great help on check in and check out. The beds have lovely down toppers on the mattresses so a nice luxurious feel. Restaurant great good and staff lovely. Experience would depend on the location of your room. My first night was first floor above the street intersection and the traffic and party goers noise at night meant a really disturbed sleep. The second two nights were on the quiet side of the hotel and simply lovely. I'd have rated excellent all the way if only some of the staff at reception were more friendly. A welcoming smile goes a long way. One or two of the people I dealt were curt and most unwelcoming - balanced out by another two were were absolutely marvellous.
