Hotel location works for the market & shops further up in town. Hotel is ok for an overnight transfer wouldn’t suggest staying for a ‘holiday’.

After every shower the bathroom floor flooded and was very slippery and dangerous. Asked for pool towels but none available, had to ask each day for in room towels the colour was meant to be white but they were brown and thin. Terrible sewerage smell around pool and outside dining. All out side chairs had holes and uncomfortable to sit. Overall building and contents very old and well passed its use by date. Cannot swim in the pool because over chlorinate burn skin and eyes. Needs some serious money spent

Great comfortable bed and pillows!! Gorgeous views!! Professional, friendly, helpful staff!! Food was good and good selection - buffet breakfast every day was mostly the same items - could have shaked that up a bit and had a few different rotational menus for buffet breakfast. Smoking in the casino - TERRIBLE causing me to come home with upper respiratory infection (and gave me nausea for a day or more!!). Need better ventilation system to get that terrible smoke filtered out so it doesn't impact on staff and patrons. Maybe some windows high up in the room can be opened to let smoke out. Heard many guests there complaining of the smoke - I would have spent more time gambling in the casino if the conditions were more favourable i.e no smoke or thick smoke. I would definitely go back but will not be using the casino unless the conditions are more healthy for guests and staff.

Location is good and this was our fourth stay here and our seventh Island visit but overall the Vila experience has got worse over the years. This is not isolated to one hotel. In general the standards have dropped everywhere. The Grand, being a more established hotel, needs to reestablish itself and update its decor. Smells around the pool area are getting worse, drinks overrated and expensive, 5000vt for a shot of standard Hennessy Cognac? Out of basic drink ingredients, not enough pool towels. Menus need refreshing and found a screw in my breakfast.
