Great resort

Great resort, fantastic swimming pool, swim up bar, kids club and lots of activities at the resort eg. Tennis, table tennis, horse riding, sailing, jet skiing. Food at the restaurant was really good and reasonably priced. Negatives are that it doesn't have a very nice swimming beach, and food orders took a long time to come.

This resort is amazing! Highly recommend staying in a Bure rather than a guest room. The facilities are great, staff are lovely. They offer free non motorised water activities so we started off everyday with a paddle board and kayak in the ocean. Hope to go back soon

Nice hotel, comfortable beds, great bures with bal

Loved our relaxing 5 days at the Doubletree. A particular thanks to Maureen the manager who went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable in all aspects. The hotel could do with a few extra facilities as 2 restaurants and 1 bar got pretty boring atter 5 days. Breakfast was the same every day, it would have been nice to have some changes like a rotation of bread types, different cheeses and fruits, different hot offerings etc. The quality of the food was ok, you have to expect on a small island the availability of quality ingredients is tough. To get off of the island is around $45-50 each way, which soon starts to add up. Expect comfortable Hilton standard beds, nice toiletries and good showers and towels. If you just want.to relax it's a very good option with little to distract you. Views are beautiful. You may need a degree in engineering to work out the air con though! But be aware, I booked it as I thought it was going to be am island resort feel, like castaway or beachcomber. That it is not, you cannot sit on the beach or walk all the way around a white sand beach.

Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Great place to stay. However could provide more chairs on bure deck as only had 2 for a family of four. Buffett breakfast was beautiful great choices but buffet meals not as extensive. Spectacular sunsets. Great kids and adult activities. Firedancing a real highlight.

We had our grandchildren with us aged 10-7 they spent most of their time in the pool. Looking at tadpoles in the pond and having a wonderful time. It’s an excellent resort for small families.

Good family vacation

This holiday was really quite nice and the hotel itself and the accommodation was fine. Positives: The hotel rooms were very good, the staff were excellent and the swimming pool was great. My son loved the kids club. I would also add that the cost of the room was really reasonable and that was a real positive for us. Drawbacks The bit that stops me from rating this higher was the location. The hotel is a little bit remote and with only two restaurants (with similar styles of food) staying there for nine nights was a little bit of a draw back (I would add they do do a different buffet every night to try and mix it up). We ended up catching a taxi over to Denarau for three nights to break it up a bit. The other thing to keep in mind is that there is really only a little bit of a beach and it is not what you would see in the brochures from the outer island.

Family friendly

Pros: Staff friendliness.
Cons: The reception area could be better appointed in a more traditional style, like the Bures. Thatched ceiling for example. Maybe an adults only pool.
Location: All activités can be organised from the hotel. Not much to do at the island. You can horsehide, swim and some minor water sports.
From the moment we walked into the foyer of Double Tree, the hotel staff were warm and accomodating and made a fuss over our 7 month old. We chose this hotel because it was close to the airport (30 mins) and we have a child who does not travel well. The hotel itself was lovely. Its more a 3.5-4 star hotel than 4.5, but you get what you pay for. Its cheaper than other 4.5 stars - for a reason. Its clean and friendly and the bure's are great! Huge. (no bath though). We had a partial ocean view which was perfect as we had garden views and grass too and people only passing on one side. The ocean view bure's had people passing both side, sand, and no shade from the garden or trees. The pool is great for all ages. With areas dedicated to kids at 30cm deep, up to 1.9m deep. The island sand is volcanic - so its black. The ocean water is therefore dark and murky, not crystal blue as you might think. You can still jetski and kayak etc, but there is no point snorkelling or diving unless you take a specific trip - which can be organised by the hotel. Food was great. There are two restaurants to choose from on the island. The outdoor restaurant Tavu, was our favourite. Service is not quick, but this is Fiji, Island Time IS A THING. Service isn't slow either. Everything at a relaxing pace. Go to the bar and get another beer yourself will solve a few of your frustrations. Kids club, baby sitting, its all there. We had a great time and it was perfect for our young family.
