Lautoka Holiday Packages

Sure, Lautoka is probably better known for sugar production than tourism, but this Fijian city of 50,000 makes a great base camp for adventures elsewhere in the island group. Located only 25 km from Nadi International Airport, Lautoka is flanked by Mt. Koroyanitu and filled with street markets, gorgeous scenery and yes, warm tropical seas. Hear that sound? It’s your holiday self telling you to book Lautoka packages already.

Things to Do in Lautoka

Situated on the western flank of Viti Levu, Lautoka is the second-largest city in Fiji. In addition to its scenic harbour, there’s various spas and open-air markets for you to explore on your Lautoka holiday. You'll also find a children's park and a lush botanic garden within walking distance of the harbour. Do you have a sweet tooth? One of the largest sugar mills in the Southern Hemisphere is located in Lautoka. Now, it doesn't open for tours (sorry, sugar fiends), but those on Lautoka holidays can catch a glimpse of the operation while standing outside the gate beneath the black smokestack. Boozehounds will rejoice, though, as South Pacific Distilleries—which makes rum, gin, vodka and whisky from the island's sugar—does give free tours.

Get out and about by booking one of Wotif’s Lautoka car hire deals and making the short drive to Navala Village. Wander around 200 thatch bures sitting in the shape of a cross—great place to snap a few photos. Just remember to bring the village chieftain a sevusevu, or ceremonial gift, so you'll be treated to a village tour and, if you're lucky, a kava ceremony. Back in Lautoka, stop by the Sri Krishna Kaliya Temple. While the Hare Krishna monks there welcome visitors anytime, go for Sunday prayers at noon. You'll be treated to drumming, chanting, bell ringing and conch blowing, followed by a vegetarian meal at 1 p.m.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

Shopping in Lautoka is situated along primarily Vitogo Parade, Naviti Street and Yasawa Street. You'll find just about anything you're looking for in the retail stores, but if you really want to impress your mates back home, pick up local handicrafts in some of the boutique shops and specialty markets.

Restaurants in Lautoka offer a taste of everything, from the day's fresh catch to barbecue chicken. Pickier eaters—we know you’re out there—will find a variety of ethnic cuisines in some the area’s restaurants. Since there's a large population of Indo-Fijian residents in Lautoka, the local curries are especially good!

Relaxation is the name of the game here the nightlife is limited to some of the restaurants in town that stay open late and carve a temporary dance floor out of a dining room. Friday and Saturday nights are the most popular times for these "pop-up" clubs. A few small bars and pubs can be found in Lautoka, but a resort might be your best bet for after-hours fun.
