The location of this property is just gorgeous. If you crave a relaxing, peaceful vacation surrounded in beauty, then this is the place for you. Check-in was easy, there is 24-hour contact with management if you need them, and the house was nicely stocked with towels and paper and soap products. You feel like you are alone in the world when strolling along the beach, yet there are restaurants and stores close by in the town of Manistique. The fire pit on the beach was perfect, especially for star gazing. If you are looking to do more, you are only about an hour or so from all the beauty and adventure the U.P. has to offer including, Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenom Falls, Seney National Wildlife Refuge, Fayette Historic State Park, Kitch-it-kipi in Palms Book State Park, and St. Ignace/Mackinac Island.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Sandbox. The view was absolutely breathtaking. It was stocked with mostly everything we needed. We took advantage of the hot tub, morning walks on the beach, and slow mornings sipping coffee in front of the electric fireplace. The weather wasn’t amazing, but the sun came out almost everyday and it ended up being perfect! There were a few things that were damaged at arrival, but the host reached out right away and assisted us. My only true complaint was for the cost, a few things could be updated that were old/not functioning to full capacity. The property is beautiful and with a few updates, I feel like it could be even better. If you’re looking for a place to relax and bring your dog with little disturbance, this is it! There was lots of wildlife including humming birds, frogs, a garden snake, butterflies, and dragon flies. In town we explored the little shops, walked the pier to the light house, climbed the other lighthouse which did cost 8 per person, drove through the Sereny Wildlife preserve, went to Kitchitikipi, ate at TAP 21(perch was great), and went to the local grocery store Jack’s quite a bit. Make Sandbox your next vacation!

We absolutely love the beautiful view from the house and want to come back again. However, we noticed that the tap water has a noticeable iron smell and taste. It would be fantastic if the owner could consider installing a water treatment or filtration system.

Beautiful lake front property with all the amenities you would need in the kitchen (even a large crockpot)! All the resupplies such as trash bags, hand soap, paper towels, laundry soap etc. Those little things make it an easier vacation! The house was clean, cozy and comfortable. We had 8 adults and 2 dogs and we seemed to have plenty of space. We enjoyed the lovely beach from sun up with walks on the beach, day time with lounging and cooling off in the water, to nighttime with fires right on the beach!!

Great location
The property is located on the shores of Lake Michigan with access to a large beach. It was very beautiful, the house is well stocked and spacious. Had a great time grilling, enjoying camp fire, took the kayaks out on the lake and relaxed in the hot tub. Would recommend.

Christmas Adventure
My daughter asked for a snowy Christmas for her Christmas gift. This property exceeded our expectations. The lake views are incredible. It was a beach, forest, snowy stay all rolled into one trip. She loved sledding down the sand dunes and building a snowman. The isolation allowed for the most wonderful night skies. I’ve never seen so many stars in my life. The Christmas decorations were a very thoughtful touch. We were close enough for day trips to Tahquamanon Falls, Big Spring, rock hunting at Lake Superior, and Benny the Beard Fisher. The cottage had everything we could need on the days we wanted to relax and enjoy views. I’m sure that we will return!

Blissful Beachfront
Wow. You would be hard pressed to find a better beach in the greater area. The kids could swim for 100+ yards, yet still stand without issue on a clean sand bottom. The waves lulled us to sleep multiple nights, while other nights were super serene and peaceful. Epic sunsets.
Fantastic base camp spot for our day trips to Pictured Rocks, Mackinac Island, and Kitch-iti-Kipi. It was very convenient to have a short drive to Manistique for groceries and essentials, while also having a tranquil location far from the major highway.
The house was clean and well appointed. We spent the vast majority of our time on the beach, so the overall lack of charm and religious decor mattered not. The new boardwalk to the beach made it easy for the kids to run into the water the moment we arrived. The beach felt unbelievably vast and private. I only encountered one other person throughout our 5-night stay.
I only had to call once for a (first world) problem with the hot tub. The caretaker answered the moment I called and helped us remedy the situation.
Would stay again in a heartbeat. Made some beautiful memories with loved ones. Thank you!
