Close to amenities

Pros: Location.
Cons: Chambermaid service needs improving.
Location: Close to amenities
Staff were pleasant but not particularly engaged. Bedroom not made up one day. Another day no towels left. Dusty tables, no teaspoons etc. Small points, but annoying.

Unfortunately enough i left that hotel disappointed.. reason being my hotel room was only cleaned once out of the 5 nights i was there.. Secondly, each time i wanted to get into my hotel room i’d have to get all the way down from level 13 to the lobby to get my card recoded which was very agitating. I hope this catches their attention as i’m heading back to melbourne in december and would like something done about this poor experience..

Great Location

Excellent location to all tourist activities. Great hotel for comfort, service and cleanliness. Unfortunately the hotel hot water service must be small as we only had COLD water until the morning when it had re-heated. Also reception let themselves into our room at 1.05am which startled us from our sleep. Apparently he got the wrong floor. However, my wife couldn't go back to sleep for hours. However, as I previously said great location, comfortable clean room and with the exception of the above two incidents, great service. Would have been 5 stars but for the two negative incidents.

Central but check what sort of room you're getting

We were given a room with no natural light that looked out onto a dark airshaft. The room was fine otherwise but the lack of light made it feel unpleasant. I would have paid extra to get an upgrade had I known.

Business trip

Pros: Location, price & cleanliness. Parking available but I did not use this facility. Excellent value for money.
Cons: Also no freezer compartment in the room fridge sadly resulted in the premature death of 2 magnum ice creams! (I should have checked first)
Location: Tram stop at the front. Ample taxis driving by. Coles supermarket across the road.
Good location for my needs. I stayed 2 nights in a queen room which was spacious, comfortable and clean. Check in and out was trouble free and the reception staff were friendly. I would stay here again.

Spend more elsewhere

Look. Was good. However small things. Booked a city view room got a view of the building next door with s slight bit of the city when standing in the corner of the room looking past the building. Half the lights in the room didn't work and the aircon, even tho we had it up at full and 18oC was really stuffy all night. As we arrived at clearway times I had to park in the carpark as wasn't allowed to stop on the street, and told reception was leaving to go park elsewhere that I know, however was ally rude and told me I already entered the carpark so had to pay to get my car out. Ovetall the place needs a spruce. But for the $105 we paid, it was sufficient. Great location. Free trams at door to go all over city and 2min walk to southern cross.

Escape from Atlantis

Pros: Swimming pool was of suitable size. Gym is well maintained. Breakfast at $12 is reasonable.
Cons: Find this poor hotel a soul.
Location: Yes, you have to say very convenient for Melbourne CBD and transportation. A little bit on the edge, and overlooking mainly railway yards / cop shop.
I like hotels. I like staying in hotels and its a long time since I've been close to leaving a hotel early. The Atlantis holds that unfortunate distinction. The hotel is not bad, or unpleasant - but every single thing has been paired down (yes, all the way to the disintegrating loo paper) that ultimately you end up with a soul-less passing of time rather than a pleasant hotel stay. The sealed windows in the rooms reminded me more of a prison cell, than a hotel room. "You'll be in the North Tower - better views over the City." OK, well with the exception of a slight park glimpse the view is over the backs of City buildings - not sure what it would be on the South side? I'd love to find more nice things to say about the Atlantis, but other than its convenience to the CBD, there is little to recommend about this hotel. The reception staff stay rigidly behind their desks - even when the broken vending machine is chewing up guests change. The breakfast is adequate for the $12 charged - but uninspiring. The hotel claims 4 stars, and the descriptions on the website are largely over generous - so the visitor gets an asynchronous experience. I stayed at the Atlantis to fulfil a purpose - to be close to the City for 3 days. It fulfilled its purpose, and the only other thing my stay achieved was to stiffen my resolve to research my hotels more thoroughly in future. I have made good my escape from Atlantis.
