Nice and clean. A bit dated, shower over bath, creaky floors. Good location and fantastic staff.

The Hotel WIN...dsor

Pros: It's like classic, classy hotel that's not trying to be overly modern and snooty.
Cons: I didn't have any gripes or concerns.
Location: Excellent spot: my preferred side of the CBD. Also if you wanna protest something, Parliament House is straight across the road.
WIN...dsor, because it wins. Great hotel with an awesome old-timey vibe. Transports you back to the days before selfies, Instagram food pics, etc. The staff are very courteous, and go out of their way to treat you like the king or queen you are. Classic fancy decor with Chesterfields and stuff. The classic vibe doesn't mean things in the hotel are old and run-down though... everything you want to be modern and in perfect working order is. The location is also excellent. You can step right around the corner and begin a flurry of Melbourne shenanigans. Stay here or be square.

Delightful, old world character. Very spacious room, great facilities. Lovely breakfast. Only detraction was the loss of our room service order.

Grand old dame who might enjoy a makeover

Beautiful heritage building in a great location, service and ammenities are good but would love to see a makeover of the interior to recreate (a more modern take of) the sophisticated glamour of yesteryear, currently she’s on the verge of being a tad tired...

Nothing is too much trouble at the Windsor - the staff are professional, friendly, and helpful, the rooms are well appointed and tidy (the TV system was a little old but we were only in a standard room and didn't watch it for more than an hour the whole stay anyway. I am General Manager for a 5 star venue and travel extensively - the service at the Windsor matches any five star hotel around the world.

Historical Experience

What can I say? Beautiful hotel. Great facilities and so close to everything. The only gripe I have is that we had to wait 20 minutes for a table for breakfast. Other than that, the Hotel Windsor is magnificent.

Melbourne's History at its Best

Pros: It's ambience, warmth and nostalgia into Melbourne's history and past.
Cons: The restaurant was not open for dinner during our stay. This may deter some visitors.
Location: Great central location within walking distance and tram to Bourke St Mall, Emporium, Melbourne GPO, Fitzroy Gardens and famous MCG.
My husband and I stayed at The Hotel Windsor for our wedding anniversary. The Windsor delighted us by upgrading our room to a Deluxe Suite and a complimentary bottle of Champagne. All staff we encountered were friendly, kind and caring. The room was superb, with a great view of Parliament House. Great central location if a visitor to Melbourne and would happily recommend The Hotel Windsor to anyone desiring a traditional hotel with old fashioned service and values. We look forward to returning to the Windsor again soon.
