Accommodation In Mount Cook

Wotif you took a well-deserved holiday in New Zealand's most beautiful alpine region? When you stay in one of our Mount Cook hotels, expect a rugged mountain adventure with endless activities and fun!

History

Start your trip off in the Aoraki/Mount Cook alpine village and visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre, which pays tribute to the New Zealander, the first person to ever reach the summit of Mt Everest. At the centre, you'll learn all about how Mount Cook helped him to prepare for his massive feat, while you watch the fascinating 3D movie about this mighty mountain.

Things to Do

After visiting the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre, you'll probably feel inspired to go out and climb some mountains yourself. The good news is that you'll be surrounded by them! So put on some climbing boots and start scaling those peaks! Of course, the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park is a fantastic place to start and if you're here in winter, you'll have plenty of opportunities to ski back down the mountainside. The Hooker Valley Track and Mueller Hut Route are also very popular with mountaineers.

For something completely different, head to the Tasman Glacier Lake or the Mueller Glacier Lake and experience kayaking 750 metres above sea level. The water is stunningly clear, the scenery is spectacular and you'll even be able to paddle close enough to actually reach out and touch the icebergs! So don't forget your camera!
