Great lake hotel

Pros: Room view, great food, helpful staff who went out of their way to help/please. The guy on reception was particularly helpful.
Cons: Nothing, it's perfect.
Location: Close to Rotorua mud pools and Maori village.
Best bed in New Zealand, what a pleasant surprise this hotel was. Front/reception and restaurant staff very helpful and friendly. Lamb meal at restaurant was excellent also. Nothing was a bother for them. My room view over the lake was beautiful. Perfect place to stay if visiting Rotorua - only 10 drive away. Highly recommend.

Lovely quiet place even if some guests are not. Relaxing kayak on Lake Rotoiti for 2 hours is included with your room - 2 kayaks to choose from - single seat or double seat kayak available. If you want lunch, you need to book it before 10:30 am on the day - this is delivered to your room via room service so the room service charge applies.

Lovely and reasonably priced, some way from town

Pros: Beautiful grounds. Quiet. Reasonable price. Room had everything I needed (but no microwave). Dinners were good - beef sirloin and fish of the day.
Cons: A way to keep shower water in shower-leaked by the door, only 1 bath mat! Wanted pizza room service for dinner, heavy dinners only.
Location: Some distance from town but quiet. Didn't do kayaking or water activities but had car to do Rotorua activities.

Stunning location. Superb venue for wedding

Our daughter got married here and the location was ideal. Perfect for family to prepare for the wedding. Ideal for family and friends to stay at after the reception. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Children loved the pool.

Fantastic location, OK hotel

Fantastic location - extensive / exclusive lake frontage, set well off the highway and with great views over the lake from our first floor room (King Room, lake view). Room and bathroom were both quite spacious and reasonably well appointed. The two different, young female staff who looked after our needs at breakfast time were both very friendly and helpful, and a great asset to the hotel. These pluses, together with a reasonable room tariff, for us outweighed some of the less positive aspects of the hotel, those being - ... overall, hotel shows signs of gradual deterioration as though running costs being kept down by not keeping up with routine maintenance (eg. painting, fixing of broken screens) ... on check-in the male staff member was friendly enough, but was (I thought) very obvious in his quick disappearance after check-in when we picked up our suitcases and only then realised we needed to carry them up two flights of stairs to get to our room ... the buffet breakfast was adequate, but certainly not extensive in the range of options and after several mornings of it we were bored with the same offerings and ate breakfast in town on our last day, despite having already paid for the buffet breakfast as part of our room tariff. We would almost certainly stay here again, as the location (approx 15-20 mins drive from the centre of town) was to our liking, though next time we would not pay for breakfast up front.

Lovely peaceful stay. Enjoyed overlooking the lake. Comfy bed. Great bath. Room was let down by mould on curtains and carpet. Privacy was an issue with the bathroom ‘window’ as our party was made up of two friends, not a couple.

Cons: Dining room could be open later.
A bit noisy with people standing outside early in the morning talking far too loud.
