The room was spacious and clean but there was an odd smoke smell right from the first walk in. It was more of a motel style than hotel. The pool water slide wasn’t working and there was no notice on Expedia upon booking, otherwise we would’ve stayed elsewhere for our child. The hot tub was not hot enough, felt like warm, but the sauna was nice (although there was a lot of graffiti carved into the wood).

The staff were friendly at check in, and helpful during the breakfast when items ran out. However, our 6 year old son was injured at the pool, due to an unsecured drain cover. His leg slipped in the drain and he was lucky only to end up with an ugly purple bruise on his thigh about 10cm long! It could have been much worse. I told the front desk about the drain immediately after the incident, but it was still unsecured the next morning when we checked out. Our toilet seat was also almost completely off the hinges and the light in front of our room was dangling from the ceiling by wires. There are plenty of other hotels on the highway at Golden. We'll try one of them the next time we pass though.

Other persons hair in bed.
The staff was super friendly upon checkin. The room looked nice enough... but when we pulled back the covers for bet time... the bed has several long dark black hairs from someone else. I called the front desk... they offerd to move us right away and apologized. We had just finished unloading all of our snowmobile gear into the room... I didnt want to move rooms. I asked the manager for new bedding. He came and took pics, offered to change the bed. My husband and I just did it ourselves. The rest of the room was clean.

The rooms are clean and comfortable but maintenance is a bit of an issue - I had to call the staff twice to fix problems, and relocate to a new room once. The location is handy and the price is right. I didn't use the pool.
