We really appreciated that Hotel Niwa has very high standards for Japanese landscaping and particularly zen water gardens. The number of spaces to sit, relax, and unwind was exceptional.

I was impressed by the kindness of the staff and the restaurant attached to the gym and minibar. Especially the sushi restaurant is the highest level even for Japanese people 😉

Great location for public transport to get around to the sights, the room was a little tired, but very comfortable beds and cool quilts. The magnificent gardens on site and night views from our room certainly made up for the tired decor. Some nice onsite restaurants too.

Tiny bed! I feel like there’s not much point even reviewing the other parts of the stay (which were all mostly good) when the bed is such a let down. Smallest hotel bed we’ve ever been in. We are an average size man and woman and there wasn’t enough space for us both to lie on our backs. When one person was on their back, the other was on their side, it was a bit ridiculous. Uncomfortable pillows and uncomfortable bed full stop. I’ve stayed in much smaller rooms with bigger beds so feel like that’s not an adequate excuse either. Other than that service, breakfast and amenities were all good.

"We enjoyed our stay at the Celecton. I recommend getting the breakfast, it was very convenient as there are no konbini readily close by. We enjoyed using their onsen as well.
