The front desk staff were not friendly. They gave us our rooms on the 2nd floor which was by the elevators and very noisy. After we complained they made our stay one night there and the next day they made us check out at 12 and check in again at 3 but they gave us rooms again by the elevators on the 4th floor and they said we booked through the Expedia so can't give us a room above 5th floor

DO NOT BOOK!! While staying at the Riu, an unprovoked guest threatened myself as well as my guest on 2 separate occasions.. Racial slurs, threatened physical violence, got up in both of our faces in the middle of the lobby in front of numerous staff members and the situation was not handled properly. Due to the situation we no longer felt safe or comfortable staying our last night in the resort and requested a refund speaking to the property manager who insured us that if we went through Expedia and requested a refund for one night stay since we checked out an entire day early that we would receive a refund. Expedia now tells me that the property manager will not approve it! I’m sure there were plenty of witnesses as well as security footage that will side with my story! On another note, food was poor including the restaurants since it is the same food as the buffet. There may be 24 hour room service, but they only offer about five things including cold cut sandwiches and chips with cold cheese. No amenities. Broken hot tub and sauna. 3 bars totals. 2 outdoor close by 5pm. Entire right wing of the resort wreaked of rotten eggs and sewage throughout our entire stay which is where the only bar open at night is. Leaving the egg sewage bar the only place to hangout on the resort at night. If the entertainment you’re looking for is a sub par Michael Jackson tribute show then this is your place! Also, not a private beach, expect to be harassed by “tourist guides”!

The staff was very friendly & helpful. Location; beach, pool & common areas were well kept k clean. Buffet food selection was vast & tasty. Few reservations for other restaurants & food was so, so. All in all, had a fabulous time. Willbe returning!!

We enjoyed our stay at the Riu!!! There were plenty of food options available. We loved having easy beach access and the pools were great also. The staff were pleaseant and very welcoming.
