I had an extended stay, and felt like the room I was given was below par.
I will say that the room size was above average for a New York City hotel. The freshwater dispensers that they had on the floors was definitely a plus, and the water tasted fantastic.
The floors are filthy, and I think that what contributes to that is people not taking their shoes off after coming out of the street. There is this weird foam rubber thing that’s in the shower that’s supposed to prevent the water from leaking out. But they really need to replace the shower curtains with some glass because people rub their bodies on that which is disgusting.
The walls are pretty thin, so you can hear people playing music and when they’re on their phones. There was a thick black tape on the window, which tells me that that was trying to prevent any cold air to come in. The room was cold, and the comforter on the bed was super thin. I actually had to go out and buy myself a blanket so I wouldn’t get cold.
The biggest issue though, is that I woke up a couple different times during my stay, and my entire room smelled like marijuana. You could smell it in the hallway, and somehow or another it seeped into the room. And now my belongings smell like it, which is extremely unfortunate. If the doors were actually long enough so that they didn’t have space underneath for any smoke or lights to come in, that would solve some issues.
I don’t know if I would stay here again. I did feel safe there though.
