10 Subtle Hints To Let Your Partner Know You Need A Holiday

Do you find yourself daydreaming at work of you and your partner lazing on a Thai beach, or driving through the French Riviera? If so, you’re obviously in need of a holiday, but if your better half needs a nudge to get in the mood, here are 10 simple tricks to get them on the holiday bandwagon.

1. Dress up in holiday gear

It might sound a little extreme but if you have to do the housework or wash the car, why not wear your swimmers or boardies while doing it? Keep the holiday vibes going around the house with strategically placed thongs, hats and inflatable pool toys he or she can’t miss.

2. Talk about friends’ holidays

If your partner is the keeping up with the Joneses’ type, just mentioning the amazing trips your mate’s have been on recently might do the trick. Better still, invite your friends over for dinner to show off their tans, and share details of their trip to make you both green with envy.

3. Make your home smell like a holiday resort

There’s a certain aroma when you walk into an exotic hotel or resort, which you can easily recreate at home using candles, incense and room sprays. A whiff of coconut oil, the ocean breeze, or frangipanis will quickly transport you both to tropical heaven, and have your partner pining for the real thing.

4. Turn your bathroom into a spa

Think fluffy towels and bathrobes, rose petals, and rich body oils. Dim the lights, run a bubble bath, hang a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door, then crack open some champagne and casually toast to your next holiday, steering the conversation not so subtly to where your next holiday spa time should be.

5. Take your partner on a romantic date

Eat out somewhere new—ideally a restaurant where you try a foreign cuisine for the first time, or you can go dancing afterwards. Then drop hints about how every night could be like this if you were on holiday, turning one night of passion into a week of romance with a tan as a bonus.

6. Research hot holiday destinations you’ll both love

Do you love shopping for new clothes or being spoiled with spa treatments on vacay while your partner prefers teeing off on the golf course or riding waves on a jet ski? Do some research to find the ultimate destinations for you both that will be too good to refuse.

7. Watch movies to inspire wanderlust

If watching Under the Tuscan Sun doesn’t have your better half drooling over the exotic Italian countryside, nothing will. Line up some new and classic movies to watch at home together, set in exotic destinations you’re both keen to explore.

8. Travel is good for you

Kale. Meditation. A good night’s sleep. They’re all good for you but another healthy thing can add to the list is travel which is scientifically proven to increase your happiness and reduce stress, as well as being good for your heart, both in health and romance. Win-win, right? Find a few articles shouting out the benefits and send them onto your other half.

9. Get inspired

Be that annoying person and distract your partner from daily life by tagging them in posts on Facebook of amazing destinations, fabulous resorts, and your favourite travel brands (ahem Wotif.com, obviously).

10. Get practical

If you’ve tried all of the above but you still don’t have those plane tickets booked, get practical. Create a budget, decide what you can afford, when you can go, then look up some amazing deals to make your holiday dream become a reality. Then seal the deal by offering to plan and book everything—simple!

And a bonus fail-proof tip: share this post with them 😉
