We’ve crunched the numbers, and found Aussies can save up to 30%, just by staying at a quieter spot within some of our most in demand regions*.
1. Gold Coast, QLD: Swap Broadbeach ($273) for Miami ($196): over 30% predicted savings
Miami has a predicted average daily rate which is almost 30% less than close by Broadbeach. Reap the benefits of the nearby restaurants, bars and dining scene before retreating to the more chilled out Miami.
2. Great Ocean Road, VIC: Swap Lorne ($265) for Warrnambool ($205): almost 25% predicted savings
Switch it up and head for Warrnambool on the the Great Ocean Road, almost 25% cheaper than Lorne. Staying at the largest town on the Great Ocean Road will give you plenty to see and do, from heritage listed buildings to dramatic scenery of the steep bluff the town is located behind.
3. Hunter Valley, NSW: Swap Pokolbin ($248) for Maitland ($171): over 30% predicted savings
Spend Easter in the historic town of Maitland, which is expected to be over 30% cheaper than the centre of Hunter Valley wine country, Pokolbin. Mix up the usual Hunter style winery weekend, with a visit to the old Maitland gaol, the regional art gallery and nearby heritage town, Morpeth.
4. Hobart, TAS: Swap Hobart ($198) for Northern Hobart, TAS ($136): over 30% predicted savings
Hobart is one of Australia’s easiest capital cities to get around and for the savvy saver, over 30% can be saved by opting to stay in Northern Hobart rather than the city centre, which is an easy five-minute drive away.
5. South West Region, WA: Swap Busselton ($254) for Bunbury ($174): over 30% predicted savings
If you’re tossing up between Busselton and Bunbury, then our pick is to opt for Bunbury, which is set to be better on the budget, with a predicted saving of over 30%. The family friendly town is the ideal place to spend a long weekend, from heading to the quirky ‘Gnomesville’ attraction, to visiting the dolphin discovery centre, there is plenty to do.
6. Adelaide, SA: Swap Glenelg ($208) for Adelaide CBD ($177): 15% predicted savings
The CBD is great value for an Adelaide stay, the perfect place to base yourself while still being an easy tram ride to the beachside suburb of Glenelg. Take advantage of your inner city location and explore Adelaide Town Hall, Art Gallery, Botanic Gardens and the Adelaide Zoo.
7. Sunshine Coast, QLD: Swap Noosa ($244) for the Hinterland ($208): 15% predicted savings
Go inland this Easter, escaping the crowds on the coast for a more relaxed weekend in the Hinterland, which is estimated to be 15% cheaper than Noosa. Fill your days with nature walks, mountain peaks and exploring the areas quaint villages. If you’re really craving the seaside, a day trip into Noosa is an easy one-hour drive away.
