What you can expect
Nelson was one of the first centres of European population in New Zealand, and the first official city in South Island, founded in 1841 before Christchurch or Dunedin. The first rugby game in New Zealand was played here in 1871, between Nelson College for Boys and Nelson Football Club.
Nelson regularly wins the annual trophy for the New Zealand city with most sun time, on average enjoying over 300 days a year – this is why it is known as Sunny Nelson!
Ever since it's founding, Nelson has attracted talented artists and artisans from around the world.
This tour will try and squeeze as great a variety of local history and talent into four hours as possible. Apart from visiting historical sites of interest, you will visit the glassblower exporting to leading shops in New York and Europe, a potter who is a known around the world for his skills, sculptors and artists, and centres of excellence that are unique to the Nelson region. You will do a wine tasting at one of our leading world-famous vineyards and we will also make sure you try some of our great local coffees.
The tour is run over lunch and we have some great places to eat with wonderful fresh menus to recommend and, of course, more wine!
Come with us, meet the artisans and taste the region’s best, you will not be disappointed! Enjoy some wonderful scenery, all from the comfort of our small group, luxury, eco-friendly tour vehicles.
Standard wine tasting fees included, other food or drinks are at own cost.
