Know before you book

    • Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
    • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
    • This is a guided road and ferry tour in an air-conditioned bus. It is not a cruise or boat tour.
    • Departs Hobart at 7am. Returns approximately 5:30pm.
    • Your specific pickup time and location is confirmed after booking. Pickup from locations other than the main Hobart meeting point may be earlier than 7am.
    • Bring warm layers and a rain jacket. Bruny Island is often cooler than Hobart, in all seasons.
    • Wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes.
    • Bring a small day bag or backpack. Suitcases and large bags cannot be accommodated on the bus.
    • Bring a reusable water bottle. Water is available on the bus for refills throughout the day.
    • Dietary requirements must be noted at time of booking.
    • Children under 5 cannot climb Cape Bruny Lighthouse stairs. They may visit the Cape Bruny Lighthouse Museum and walk inside at the base under adult supervision.
    • Three fitness options at Truganini Lookout: 279 stairs to the top, a mid-level lookout, or a flat boardwalk to the beach.

Hobart (Pass by)

Pickup from your selected Hobart hotel or meeting point. Over 10 locations available across Hobart and surrounds, including CBD, Sandy Bay, Battery Point, Margate, Kingston and Bruny Island. If your accommodation is not on the pickup list, contact BIS after booking and they will direct you to the nearest option. Pickup from locations other than the main Hobart meeting point may be earlier than 7am.

Bruny Island (Pass by)

Spend the day exploring the 'essentials' of Bruny Island, visit the iconic locations on the island and take in the best views from the Lighthouse balcony

Two Tree Point

The Bruny Island Bread Fridges are located here, a Bruny Island institution where fresh bread is sold on the honour system from an unmanned roadside fridge. Own cost. Search for the Bennett's white wallaby, an albino wallaby unique to Bruny Island. After thousands of tours, the guides know the most reliable spots. Sightings are not guaranteed.

Cape Bruny Lighthouse Tours

The centrepiece of the tour. Guided tour of Cape Bruny Lighthouse, built in 1836, heritage-listed and only accessible through Bruny Island Safaris. Climb 72 steps (with handrail) to the balcony for views across the Southern Ocean and cape. The original lens, installed in 1903, is still preserved on site. Children under 5 may visit the museum and walk at the base under adult supervision but cannot climb the stairs.
