What you can expect
Begin a journey through time at the Museo Delta Antico, in the heart of Comacchio, where over 2,000 artefacts tell the storey of the transformation of the Po Delta. Housed in the imposing former Ospedale degli Infermi, the museum welcomes you with an exhibition route that spans the ages, from the Etruscan period to the Middle Ages, revealing the strategic role of this area as a crossroads of trade and cultures.
On the ground floor, let yourself be amazed by the Roman section, where you can admire the intact cargo of a merchant ship that was shipwrecked two thousand years ago: amphorae, lead ingots and everyday objects will bring the life and trade of antiquity back to life. Going up to the ground floor, explore the history of the Etruscan city of Spina, with decorated Attic vases, gold, and grave goods that testify to the richness of one of the main emporiums of the Mediterranean. The last section takes you to the birth and development of Comacchio in medieval times, with trade and routes along the Po and towards the East.
The museum offers bilingual itineraries, multimedia aids, sensory installations, and a tactile bench for a truly accessible and engaging experience, suitable for families, schools, and curious travellers.
