People's Square (Renmin Guang Chang)

Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel at 09:00 a.m.. Then, we will transfer to People’s Square by public transport and start the highlight tour. Shanghai People's Square is located at the very centre of Shanghai and is the demarcation point of East Nanjing Road and West Nanjing Road. It is a flourishing place for people to look around. Before 1949, the area of Shanghai People’s Square and the People’s Park was used as a famous horse racetrack which was built in 1861, honoured as the ‘No.1 Racetrack in Far East’. Visitors still can find the ruins for the former main building standing at the northeast part of the People’s Square. We will see many scenic spots around people's square, such as the new Municipal Government Mansion, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Grand Theatre, Shanghai History Museum the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. Later, we will visit Shanghai Museum.
Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan)

Located in the centre of Shanghai in People's Square, Shanghai Museum is a large museum of ancient Chinese art. Its style and presentation surround visitors with artefacts demonstrating ancient wisdom and philosophy. The exterior design of the round dome and the square base symbolises the ancient idea of a round heaven and a square land. The museum is divided into eleven galleries and three exhibition halls. The eleven galleries cover most of the major categories of Chinese art: Ancient Bronze, Ancient Ceramics, Paintings, Calligraphy, Ancient Sculpture, Ancient Jade, Coins, Ming and Qing Furniture, Seals, and Minority Nationalities.
Shanghai Grand Theater (Pass by)
We will admire the facade of Shanghai Grand Theatre. Shanghai Grand Theatre is uniquely designed and beautifully shaped. It combines western and Chinese architectural styles perfectly. The white arched vault sets off glass curtain walls like a crystal palace.
Hotel Park Hotel Shanghai

Then, we will walk around Nanjing Road, exploring surrounding communities and the thinnest building
Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road)

Nanjing Road is considered to be the 'No. 1 commercial street in China', which has been a landmark for this city for a long time. Along its 5.5 kilometres, you will find over 600 shops that on average are visited by some 1.7 million people each day. Here, you can purchase everything wanted, spanning from special and cheap souvenirs to the luxurious world famous brands. You can also visit the surrounding areas and the thinnest building. The thinnest in Ningbo Road is known as Paper Building(纸片楼). The building was once reported by British Daily Post, stated as perhaps the world's flattest and thinnest building. Standing in the front of the the building at 30°it just looks like a piece of paper. The old house had four floors, not all that thin; it takes the shape of triangular polygon. This novel and strange building still has a large number of residents. Then, we will walk to Huanghe Road. There is a street filled with great little eateries, definitely a good place for a quick bite. According to your preference, your guide will recommend a place to eat, which could be a small local eatery or elegant cuisine restaurant. In the afternoon, we will walk through Yuayuan Old Street, visit Yu Garden and Temple of the Town God.
Yuyuan Old Street

Shanghai Old Street, historically called Miaoqian Dajie, is an old business street that has a combination of tourist attractions, shops, entertainment and cultural exhibits. It owes its special social attractions and rich commercial background to the fact that the earliest bank, gold shop, jeweller's store, wine shop and tea house of the city were all to be found here. Visiting the old alleys of Shanghai is a great way to discover the traditional culture of this city and experience the real life of the Shanghainese.
Yu Garden (Yuyuan)

Later, you will be shown around Yu Garden which was first built in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty by Pan Yunduan as a comfort for his father, the minister Pan En, in his old age. Pan Yunduan began the project after failing one of the imperial exams, but his appointment as governor of Sichuan postponed construction for nearly twenty years until 1577.  Yu Garden is small in size, but it contains all elements that a classical Chinese garden should have. The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters all have unique characteristics. The garden has six areas, each with its own style.

The Old Town God Temple of Shanghai, with far-reaching history, attracts a lot of tourists from all over the world to visit. As well as praying, visitors to the Old City God Temple can watch some folk performances, can take part in cockfighting, special calligraphy and some other acrobatic performances. The Old City God Temple is most famous for its local snacks, and as such is a real kingdom of delicious food with many different kinds of restaurants spread along the streets. Then, we will visit the oldest temple - Longhua Temple.
Longhua Temple

Longhua Temple is the oldest temple in Shanghai for its long history of over 1,700 years. The visitor here having marvelled at the city's modern architecture and historical sites. Besides its long history, Longhua Temple is the largest temple in Shanghai. It occupies an area of over 20,000 square metres (five acres) and the architectural proportion is about 5,000 square metres (1.2 acres). The whole courtyard was built strictly in the style of traditional Buddhist symmetry and it's in accordance with the Chinese concept of beauty. Then, we will explore the Historical Sites along Wukang Road and Hengshan Road.
Wukang Road

Wukang Road is only 1.17 km long. There are 21 outstanding city-level historical buildings and 22 district-level cultural protection relics. Each house and its detail show its stories and history. All of the buildings on the road are in European style, and while walking on Wukang Road you'll get the sense that you have arrived in Europe. Wukang Building is the most famous building on Wukang Road. The building, shaped like a giant vessel, was the most famous English-styled building in Shanghai back in the 1930s. The Wukang Building was designed by Hudec, the well-know architect. Afterwards, we will transfer back to your hotel by private transport. Wrap your memories and say good-bye in your hotel.
