What you can expect
Get the chance to swim and snorkel alongside a charming pod of seals on this delightful tour. An expert guide brings you off the coast of Kaikoura to learn about the playful animals before getting up close to them in the water. If you're feeling water-shy, you can view the seals from the boat too.
Meet your guide in the town of Kaikoura before transferring to a pier where your boat awaits. You're soon gliding through the water to a prime location for spotting and swimming with seals. Upon arriving at the spot, your guide teaches you about New Zealand Fur Seals, also called kekeno, as you wait for the fuzzy creatures to arrive. If you choose to get in the water, suit up with a buoyant wetsuit and snorkelling gear and jump right in.
Your intimate tour allows you to get just 10 feet (3 metre) away from the seals, giving you the chance to interact with them. Even if you're just watching from the boat, there's plenty of opportunity to see the seals' playing and poking their heads out of the water near the vessel. After an hour of fun with the marine animals, return to shore and shower off the sea salt before bringing your tour to an end.
