Meet your guide at Starbucks Coffee Kanazawa M’ZA, directly across from Omicho Market. Begin among the market’s colourful seafood, vegetable, and specialty-food stalls while learning about seasonal ingredients, Kanazawa’s food culture, and everyday local life.

Continue to Oyama Shrine and admire its unusual gate, which combines Japanese, Chinese, and European design. Hear the storey of the Maeda family, who shaped Kanazawa during the samurai era, before walking through Kanazawa Castle Park and discovering its impressive stone walls, gates, and defensive architecture.

Next, enter Kenrokuen Garden, with admission included. Explore one of Japan’s most celebrated landscape gardens and learn how its scenery was carefully designed to change with the seasons.

Finish in the Higashi Chaya District, where rows of traditional wooden teahouses preserve the atmosphere of old Kanazawa. Learn about the city’s geisha culture, architecture, and the small details hidden behind its beautiful streets.

Although much of the route can be enjoyed on foot, there is no need to push yourself. Local buses can also be used between locations whenever they provide a more comfortable option. Together with your guide, you can choose the best way to travel based on the weather, walking conditions, and how you feel on the day. If you would like to take a short break at a café, the schedule can also be adjusted where possible.
