Explore Kochi Castle, considered one of the most historically valuable castles among Japan’s “12 original castles,” famous for still preserving both its Edo-period main keep and palace.
Visit Hirome Market in the castle town surrounding Kochi Castle. Savour the famous seared bonito at Myojinmaru, widely regarded as some of the best Seared Bonito “katsuo no tataki” in Japan. Try refreshing mackerel sushi seasoned with yuzu vinegar.
For those not fond of seafood, try Tosa Akaushi beef, a legendary local wagyu with rich flavour that is rarely distributed outside Kochi Prefecture. Enjoy it together with local drinks, and try some excellent gyoza that pair perfectly with alcohol.
Depending on the season, enjoy fresh local fruits such as melons, buntan citrus, watermelon, pears, and mandarins while admiring Kochi’s peaceful countryside scenery and taking memorable photographs.
All transport is by private car driven by the guide. Because you travel privately, you can also access remote mountain areas that ordinary tourists rarely get to see. If requested, visit the legendary Niyodo Blue, the crystal-clear waters of the Niyodo River, often called the last great clear stream of Japan.
