We will begin our journey to the imperial city of Petropolis by departing from the passengers' hotels in Rio de Janeiro. Petropolis is located in the mountainous part of the state and is known as the Imperial City because, in monarchical times, it was chosen to be the summer residence of the Emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro II.
Our first stop will be the Imperial Museum, where visitors can find a variety of historical documents and pieces of great importance to the country's history, such as the sceptre and crown of the emperor, the imperial jewels, and priceless artworks that belonged to the royal family.
Next, we will visit the Crystal Palace, which was built in France as a pre-assembled iron cast requested by Count D'Eu and Princess Isabel. Today, it is used for concerts and theatrical plays. We will then proceed to the Cathedral San Pedro de Alcantara, a Neo-Gothic French-style building built around 1884, where the remains of Dom Pedro II, Dona Teresa Cristina, Count D'Eu, and Princess Isabel are interred. Finally, we will visit the former residence of Santos Dumont, a famous Brazilian aviator. During the tour, there will be a stop for lunch (not included).
Our tour ends with a return to the hotels in Rio de Janeiro.
