Starting in 1990, organised excursions began to be made to the Parque Nacional del Este that departed from the town and, logically, the boats were navigated by the local inhabitants. The arrival of the large hotels diversified the activities of the population, who to a large extent already work in the hotel zone or have businesses related to the visits that tourists from the hotels regularly make in the picturesque town. Beaches The beaches are undoubtedly one of the main tourist attractions in Bayahibe. The beaches are white sand and crystal clear calm waters, typical of the Caribbean Sea. Two beaches stand out: 2 Bayahibe Beach: homonymous beach to the town where it is located, it is the most popular with the locals. The beach has fine white sand, warm shallow waters, little waves and exuberant coconut palm vegetation. To the south of this beach is the Port of Bayahibe, where excursion boats set sail to the islands in the area, such as Isla Saona or Isla Catalina.
