Experience an extended version of our Reef-only walk as we journey to the source of the 11km lava flow from Mt. St. John. We begin at the volcano, enjoying panoramic views of the city, then traverse parks, reserves, and volcanic fields, tracing the lava flow to Meola Reef Reserve. There, we continue to the water and commence our Meola Reef tour. This is our Ki uta ki tai / Mountain-to-Sea path (Ridge to Reef), exploring Auckland's longest lava flow, dating back 28,500 years, covering 14 hectares, and featuring a two-kilometer tidal tongue basalt reef in the Waitematā Harbour.
Meet at Te Kōpuke / Mt St. John; the highest point. See location map below. Confused? Half of the mystery and excitement is finding the SNM team up the top; it is not that hard; we can always ring each other!
