What you can expect

  • Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Saalfeld Fairy Caves and experience a guided tour that is much more than a walking tour underground.

Together with our experienced mountain guides, you will embark on an exciting journey through the history of the former mine. Learn how the miners once worked and lived underground, how the colourful fairy grottoes emerged from the mine over many decades, and what stories and secrets are hidden behind this special place.

Our mountain guides know the Fairy Caves like hardly anyone else and will share their knowledge, their stories, and the legend of the Cave Fairy with you. Step by step, the path leads deeper into this extraordinary underground world – past impressive colours and bizarre rock formations.

The grand finale awaits you in the Fairy Tale Dome: A spectacular light and music show impressively highlights the unique scenery and guarantees an unforgettable, hair-raising moment.

Afterwards, you can delve even deeper into the world of the fairy grottoes in the Grottoneum Adventure Museum and discover nature, geology, and mining for yourself at interactive stations.
