Mikumi National Park is a popular safari destination located in south-central Tanzania. Sitting on the edge of the Selous Game Reserve, it’s known for its diverse wildlife that includes elephants, zebras, lions, hippos, giraffes, and a variety of different bird species. There are several trails in Mikumi, as well as a beautiful landscape of acacia trees, savanna grasslands, and baobab trees. The park is fantastic for wildlife viewing and birdwatching, making it an ideal one-day trip from Zanzibar and an unforgettable safari experience. While Mikumi does offer camping, its proximity to Zanzibar means you can see the park in just a day — perfect if you have limited time in the area.
