Overview

This is a private tour for you and your group only. The day offers a broad overview of the region and is not simply a wine tour.

The Swan Valley is one of the only wine regions within a 30 minute drive of a major capital city anywhere in the world. It is also one of the oldest wine growing regions in Australia.

Over 40 wineries, breweries and distilleries operate in the valley, and there is a huge choice of restaurants as well. There is a strong tradition of fortified winemaking and a long record of producing whites that are simple, fresh and crisp. The reds grown in the valley are known for their remarkable softness and drinkability at an early age.

A rustic charm fills this region and a number of talented artists and craftsmen live here. Blacksmiths & Metal Craftsmen, Stonemasons & Fabric designers to name a few. To visit the region for the wine and food alone is a missed opportunity so I include these wonderful creative options for you.

Tastings & Lunch costs are extra.

Activity itinerary

Earlsferry Sculptures
  • 20m
  • Admission ticket included
On the way to the Swan Valley, tucked away off the main road to Guildford is an amazing team of Metalwork artists who create incredible creative sculptures. Earlsferry Sculptures is actually little known even to locals but is included in this tour for its magnificent displays in the beautiful riverside garden setting. Depending on the time of your visit you may even see these artists at work.
Guildford
  • 40m
One of the main areas of settlement for the Swan River Colony in the 1830s was Guildford. Passing through this area on your way to the Swan Valley you will be shown heritage buildings and sites that shaped the first century of settlement in Western Australian. Opportunity to browse through antique and curiosity shops as well and one of the best bakerys in the region.
Yahava KoffeeWorks
  • 40m
When you need a wakeup before the wine tastings this is the place. Either grab a coffee on the run or do a tasting for a small fee and an introduction to the world of Coffee.
Lancaster Wines
  • 40m
Located on the banks of the Swan River, Lancaster boasts some of the oldest vines in the Swan Valley. These vines produce Lancaster’s outstanding wines including Chenin blanc, Verdelho, Chardonnay, the legendary Old Vines Shiraz as well as the beautiful dessert wine – Late Picked Chenin. A standard tasting will cost around $5 and includes a local cheese pairing. Tasting costs are not included in the tour.
Swan Valley
  • 6h
Its most important to know that you can customise this tour to your specific interest. The list here is not necessarily a set Itinerary. The Swan Valley Day Tour includes stops at a range of larger estates and smaller family wineries. The majority offer tastings for a small fee and some include delicious local cheeses. The region is also home to many excellent beer breweries, spirits distilleries, chocolate, honey and nougat businesses. I also offer many stops to local places of interest which larger tour operators simply cannot include due to size and time limitations. I have taken many visitors who have no interest in alcohol to the Swan Valley. There is a lot of history, many attractions and great places to eat in the region.
Old Young's
  • 1h
True to their name, Old Young’s brings tradition together with new techniques and a flair for the unusual (think cold-drip coffee, the pavlova-flavoured vodka and a gin called Old BAG.) These hand-crafted high quality spirits are produced using some of the world's best raw materials (barley malt, wheat, spring water, grapes and fruit). Hosted tastings are offered seven days a week and you can try the full range of Old Young’s vodkas and gins, both neat or paired with a dash of hand-picked mixer. Tastings are $5 per person and additional to the Tour
Feral Brewing Brewpub
  • 1h
Feral Brewing Co. is the place for those who take their beer just a little bit too seriously. Driven by a deep respect for traditional brewing methods, the Feral team brew beers brimming with character and complexity – a style that is deliberately, distinctly and unapologetically Feral. The brews here verge on the wild, from the valley’s first barrel-aged barley wine to a range of experimental and seasonal beers born from the most furtive (read: deranged) of minds. Their Swan Valley Brewpub is home to an experimental brewery, barrel ageing shed, market garden, restaurant and beer garden. Tasting Paddles and lunch are additional costs to the tour.
Upper Reach Winery
  • 40m
An small family owned winery with tastings and restaurant offering excellent product and relaxed atmosphere.
Two Birds Fromagerie
  • 30m
An optional stop offering a broad selection of local and Australian cheeses with wine flights at a small discounted additional fee.
John Kosovich Wines
  • 35m
  • Admission ticket included
Established in 1922 with vines almost 100 years old, Kosovich Winery is one of the oldest wineries operating in the Swan Valley and the oldest still run by the original family. They offer an impressive wine tasting of Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Verdelho.
The House of Honey
  • 30m
An impressive local produce business with a great selection of local honey products and mead tastings. The refreshing non alcoholic ginger sparkling is excellent.
