Cruise through the rolling, tree-flecked landscapes of Texas Hill Country to check out the former home of a US President, explore colourful towns made famous by country musicians, and stop in at an award-winning winery. Visit LBJ Ranch, Fredericksburg, and Luckenbach on this full-day excursion.
Grab a convenient ride straight from your hotel or meet your guide in city centre San Antonio before you head north into the heart of Texas Hill Country. As you ride, listen to intriguing commentary about the area's geology, pock-marked with caverns and burbling aquifers. Stop in Johnson City for a quick peek at the home where President Lyndon B. Johnson spent his younger years, and then continue on to the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.
Spend some time checking out the sprawling residence that became known as the Texas White House, catch glimpses of the Johnson Family Cemetery, and snap photos of the winding Pedernales River. Recharge with a lunch stop in the charming town of Fredericksburg, and consider making a detour to the fascinating exhibits at the National Museum of the Pacific War.
Afterwards, cruise through the historic streets of Luckenbach and hear about the country music stars who immortalised this quaint town in song before making your way back to San Antonio.
**Starting August 3, 2018, and until further notice, guided tours of the interior of the “Texas Whitehouse” are cancelled per the National Park Service due to needed repairs. However, guests can still explore the LBJ Ranch grounds, view exhibition pieces and artefacts in the JetStar Hangar, watch an award-winning 14-minute film, and get a picture with LBJ’s infamous JetStar aka “Air Force One-Half”.
