What you can expect

  • Visit the Falconry Centre, home to some of the fiercest and fastest predators on the planet, as well as the cutest owls and dazzling McCaws. Learn about the ancient art of falconry, which dates back 4,000 years to Mesopotamia and Western Mongolia.

    Discover how hunting with birds of prey still depends on the bond of trust between the person and the bird. Hear about the earliest reference to falconry in Ireland, which relates to a 7th-century King of Tara, who is described as having ‘da seabhac selga’, or two hunting hawks.
