We loved the separate bungalows, the outdoor shower, all the wood in the room (much nicer than lots of tiles and painted walls). The courtesy bikes were a nice bonus. And the way we were welcomed for our honeymoon with flowers on the bed and champagne was really lovely. The location is stunning and we hope to return one day. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also good.

A Faulty Towers version of Gilligan’s Island! A 2 star resort at 5 star prices. What a rip off $xxxx bucks night who are you kidding. A rusting old fan swirling above my head, rotting wood and broken down and dangerous balconies, construction going on at the bungalow next door,( management kindly gave us a day reef cruise after we complained about the construction noise but our spend was a lot more than there’s.) The buffet breakfast is included but the same dishes are served every day. The gardens are full of weeds, a pretty blue lagoon that you can’t see anything in when you are snorkeling because of all the silt. The resort has been on the market for 4 years, at 32 million but at the moment it’s not worth that. The staff are great, locals who should be running the place.

Kia Orana, Thank you for your review. I am pleased you found the lagoon beautiful and our staff friendly and helpful. We are in a progressive and comprehensive complete refurbishment of the resort and part of that program is re-roofing of the overwater bungalows with local thatch, upgrading the balconies and redecorating. On receiving your call regarding the work in progress on a bungalow next to yours I immediately instructed that work was to cease which it did. I called you and then personally came to your bungalow to apologize. I did not remove the scaffold until a few days later as I was hopeful of completing the project without disturbing your privacy. Part of the beauty of the overwater bungalows is the soothing and calm sounds of the water lapping the structure so I am surprised by your comments regarding the noise caused by the wave action. There are many places where guests can snorkel around the island with a favourite being Kuriri Point and many visitors take the kayaks to the small uninhabited islands and explore the marine rich underwater surrounding the motu. Our tropical breakfast buffet features a variety of fresh local fruits, sliced cold meats, sliced cheese, tomato, croissants, Danish Pastries, speciality breads, cereals, yoghurt, juices and an option for French press coffee, regular and many variety of teas. There is also an option, at a very reasonable price, for a full cooked breakfast from our A La Carte menu. The resort has many gardens and green areas that are maintained by a small team and occasionally assisted by the outside contractors when they cannot continue with the upgrade program of the resort. Positive reviews are frequently forthcoming on the appearance of our gardens and lawns. Again thank you for your review. Kia Manuia, Mark, Sue and the Team

Very disappointed that it was hard to get a drink from the bar in the afternoons. The Beach Bar was rarely open. Staff were very un-organised and poorly led by the management team. A bit of work to do, but wonderful facilities, location and has great potential.

Thank you for reviewing the Resort, its wonderful facilities and location. As mentioned elsewhere, we would have been pleased to receive your feedback during your stay. It was peak period and unfortunately some staff were away with their families and were unable to return in time, putting more pressure on others. We are looking to increase the capacity of our services at the Flying Boat beach bar, so that all meals/drinks can be served there, including during peak periods.

Wow that water is blue!

Pros: Location beautiful - that water is so blue! restaurant by ocean is lovely. you can hire mopeds $25/day a short walk from hotel to head into town.
Cons: Include ferry and town transfers in price of rooms. Deck chairs need replacing! 4% surcharge for payment by credit card was a bit of a shock!
Location: Good activities centre with free paddle boards, kayaks, snorkelling gear, volley ball net etc. Need to replace the volleyballs tho
Stunning location, lovely rooms, mostly pleasant staff. Some bits need a bit of a revamp eg thatch roofing (being done during the off season apparently), and deck chairs are pretty tired. They have no spa currently operating as they are trying to recruit a new employee but will do transfers to the Pacific spa - book well in advance tho as you are competing with the guests there for spots. We had issues with our spa booking but they were resolved well by management. Overall a lovely stay.

Kia Orana Jess and Laura! It was a pleasure to meet you. Our team was delighted to help make your stay special in our beautiful bungalows on the lagoon. Great that you enjoyed all the complimentary watersports and we were pleased to resolve the spa issue and arrange your relaxing facials here in our spa. The 4% surcharge for credit cards is usual in the region and we note all your feedback. Final materials for the roofs will be with us later today. Hope to welcome you back - Kia Mania!
