Varandas de Albufeira

Location is great as we were right in the town centre and Albuferia is quite beautiful. on arrival at the hotel met a lovely gentleman at the reception who was very helpful however he only worked nights so got help only when he came in, in the evenings. The other receptionists were terrible. One in particular was very rude and was not willing to help at all. First thing we noticed when we got to our room is that the furnishings were dusty/inclean and the table cloth was filthy. The room was nice and spacious but needed proper cleaning. Then we noticed there was no hot water for hours so we could not shower until late afternoon and then noticed the shower was not working! It was a nightmare. Then another disturbing find was that they did not clean the room/bathroom and change the bed sheet on a daily basis! Reason was because we were in a self-catering apartment so they only cleaned once a week! Can you believe that?!! Also we were not allowed to receive calls via the hotel number and when you call the hotel number externally no one ever picks up. It was crazy. Will NEVER stay in that hotel again.

Good Value

Spent a week here at the end of September in a self-catering room. The room was bright and spacious and the bathroom was also a decent size. There was a small kitchenette, which was suitable for breakfast & lunch but I don't think it was kitted out for cooking an evening meal. The pool looked nice, although we didn't use it. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is across the street from a shopping centre with an excellent supermarket. There are also plenty of places to eat close-by. The old town & beach are approx. 10 min walk away.

Not impressed.

The hotel is no where near a beach. The pool area was nice, but they don't have towels and room towels are not allowed at the pool. Also room towels are only replaced every 3 days. It is close to lots of restaurants and a supermarket. We had a mini kitchenette that was stocked with pots, pans, etc. Our room always had a musty type smell. A safe and ALL remotes (tv, a/c) are in the reception area and you must leave a deposit. We didn't bother.
