We unfortunately did not get to go to stay at the Holiday inn Express because I got very very sick and we could not make the trip. The booking would not allow us to get a refund because and we paid in full which I will never do again and then they wanted extra money for a plan in case we had to cancel the trip. The price of the one-night stay was $246 and I did not want to pay another fee on top of that. We had to absorb this one but will not happen again.

It was slightly off-putting that the first experience I had with this hotel was informing potential guests that the pool was closed and if they weren’t okay with that, they could be refunded and stay somewhere else. I also think it’s misleading to call this hotel “St Louis Area” - when it’s 45 minutes from downtown St Louis and in another state. Also, we weren’t informed that there would be masonry drills hammering in our ceiling at 6am. I was terribly surprised at the amount of noise transfer between floors and rooms for such a new hotel. They also seem to have ongoing construction, which left construction dust and drywall dust in the air and on many surfaces throughout the hotel. Maybe seems like they rushed to open. What positive things I can say is that the staff was kind and it was convenient for what I needed, which was a hotel in Alton for one night.

The front desk was prompt & friendly not only at check-in & check outs but with answers to any questions & also during just the normal leaving & entering the hotel for outside activities!! The food provided for breakfast was outstanding & the cleanliness of the area was kept very clean throughout the entire time that it was available. The size of the room itself was very comfortable & having automatic control of the heat & air with a wall thermostat was definitely appreciated. Our trip was enhanced by our stay at your hotel. Thank you.

Front desk staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast layout was great. Facilities new and generally clean. BUT we went two nights of our stay without our room being serviced and the TV systems are not intuitive at all. Worst I have experienced. Just to get to a Channel, any channel, was perplexing. Ice machine on 3rd floor remained out of service our entire 4-day stay. Needed extra luggage valet in room. Front desk said they do not have extras.

Great Hotel - Close and Comfy

This was a really nice hotel - you could tell it was very newly opened. There were some details that were not complete, but they did not impact our stay at all. Close to everything, friendly front desk attendant, and comfortable pillows - which isn’t always the case!
