This small, authentic, owner-operator historic hotel is an uncommon experience. It isn’t perfect, with a very narrow, winding staircase (no lift), but the old-school key access and features like original floors and windows, large floor space, and super friendly family staff, we felt like it was a great value and location for Amsterdam. I’d recommend it. If you’re looking for modern amenities in lieu of value, this might not be the spot, but if location, authenticity, and value are important to you, I’d recommend it!

We woke up covered in bed bug bites. The listing does say there is not an elevator, which is accurate. Our room was on the third floor, with narrow spiral staircases difficult to navigate with suitcases. While it is true to the original building, it is not easy for a traveler. There is no AC, and the fan did not move much air. The bed was not super comfortable. But the biggest issue was the bed bug bites. Between two people, we left with over 100 bites. The owner was friendly, and if you are into original architecture and living like they did in the 1700s, this would be a great choice. Just wasn’t the best choice for us, especially for the price.
