Bedding and towels were clean but garbage cans and the floor was dirty (stains on the ground we tried to clean up but it's either very old or paint splatter). It's convenient location but constant loud noice outside until 5am so if you are a light sleeper it's not for you. It was very hot and when we opened the windows mosquitos and bugs came in and we were bitten all night. Even tried to sleep with windows closed but could still hear noise from the street and had to actively locate and kill the mosquitoes first. My daughter left the place with 16+ mosquito bites. Any place we went to eat nearby feel like they are trying to take advantage of you.

HOTELS.COM doesn’t respond or help!! I would like to submit a complaint concerning my stay at “The Veteran” First of all, the location of the hotel made it impossible to sleep at night. Right underneath our room there were several coffeeshops and bars with banging loud music playing the whole night. Even the closed windows and curtains did not help. The hotel did not mention it in any way whatsoever in their description. If we knew that information beforehand — we would not stay there. I can only view it as false advertising, as the hotel owners lure the tourists in by the central location, failing to mention the disadvantages of it. Second - the bed itself. I have never ever slept on beds as stiff as the one we had in our room at The Veteran. It was truly terrible. After sleeping on the bed there both me and my partner had back pain so severe, that it was hard to walk. Because of how uncomfortable the bed was we could not sleep properly. Adding the fact of the loud environment, that I mentioned before - our nights were completely ruined. At some point we had to resort to sleeping on the floor, just because it was unbearable to lay down on the bed. Lastly, bedbugs. The room had a bedbug infestation that was quickly discovered after our second night there, as we both woke up with bites all over our body. We told the reception about it, yet nothing has been done. This is unacceptable! The hotel should inspect the rooms thoroughly before allowing the guests to stay.
