This property is for the adventurous

First, this is not a hotel, nor an executive-type apartment. It is a run-down apartment (see photo of the couch that has a big hole in it) in a group of run-down apartment blocks (see photo of entrance to building with soot from a fire). With so many units, while the parking is free, available spaces can be quite a distance away. Had to walk several blocks each time. There is a limited ability to respond if any issues arise. The proprietor appears not to be in the country, based on the cell phone number; and while the local contact is a very nice person, he’s two hours away and subject to train schedules. Secondly, make note of the large cash deposit requirement. No receipt will be provided; you are informed to “trust” the proprietor that it will be returned. Asking for a receipt is grounds for termination (which happened to me at 11:40pm, causing a scramble for a new room that Hotels.com kindly assisted with). So this is perfect for those looking at an unique BnB-type adventure. For those looking for a professional hotel or hotel-like experience, you may wish to continue your search.

Well decorated apartment.

I stayed here for 4 nights alone. I normally travel to Brussels every fortnight for work and stay for a week at different hotels and apartments. Pros : - the property is well decorated. It’s spacious. - the owner is bilingual, friendly and approachable. - the owner let me use their condiments and spreads. - plenty of gadgets and good quality cutlery in the kitchen. - the owner followed up on my stay to see if I’m ok. - there is an ironing table. - very high speed internet (100mbps+) - great big 65 inch smart tv. - great views from balcony, sunny and airy. Cons : - The property was a little dusty. The wardrobe was dusty - no hangers in the wardrobe. - the pillows were really soft, very crumbly. - only 1 towel given, no spares - toilet lacks exhaust fan - you could hear the neighbours. The walls are fairly thin Most of the above cons could have been sorted if I had told the property owner about this, but I was just too busy with work.
