New additions this year include a fabulous freestanding wooden Sauna and a freshly decorated, bright and airy Garden Room which provides an additional TV (smart/ HD) Room at the property as well as the perfect quiet place to come and relax, study or meditate.

Guests at the Woodland Retreat also enjoy the use of a lovely Tennis Court and Free Salmon Fishing on the River Earn - all on the doorstep!

'Wow!' is the first word that springs to mind when you step inside this amazing cottage. The beautiful interior has been renovated to the highest speculation and is full of style and character.

The cottage is a superb, Listed example of Georgian architecture. It has been lovingly restored to successfully marry the charm and character of a traditional stone house with the best progressive eco-build practices.

The entire interior has been newly renovated and modernised to incorporate a very large open-plan contemporary living space with solid oak floors and underfloor heating throughout. The ceilings are incredibly high and the unique central sandstone chimney is a striking feature which facilitates the definition of the three living areas in the heart of the cottage.

A stylish, fully equipped kitchen complete with all mod-cons (Nespresso Coffee machine) and a Caithness stone worktop leads to the bright, wooden panelled dining area. The large oak table seats 8 comfortably, and offers fantastic South views out into the garden and beyond.

A wonderful atmospheric and cosy Lounge is created around the wood-burner, where comfortable leather sofas are perfect for stretching out on in front of the fire.

Beautiful Georgian windows have shutters and window seats and are the perfect place to enjoy a book or get the binoculars out and study visiting wildlife.

There are two spacious, bright, South-facing Bedrooms:

The Double (en suite) Room is beautifully decorated with an extremely comfortable kingsize bed, made up with crisp Egyptian cotton linen.

Both Bedrooms have more than ample hanging and shelf space and come with hair-dryers, fluffy bathrobes and slippers.

The En Suite is very light and high-ceilinged with a large Shower and window.

The Twin Room is also high-ceilinged and extremely bright, with windows to both the South and West. There are two twin beds which can be made into a double if necessary.

The Family Bathroom is large and spacious with a generous doubled ended bath, separate walk in shower and is stocked with organic shampoo and soap. The lighting is high-tech; enjoy a romantic candle-lit bath bathed in stunning blue light!

Adjacent to the back door is a separate Outhouse/Utility Room, which is the perfect Washing and Drying Room. There is a large stainless steel sink, washing machine, an overhead pulley and underfloor heating. Spacious, airy and warm, it is the ideal place for pets to sleep when they are not in the garden. Please note that, due to our allergy free status, pets are not allowed in the house at any time.

For your Entertainment there is a 57' Smart/HD flat screen TV with free Sky Sports and Entertainment, a sub-woofer sound system and DVD player. There is a good selection of maps as well as interesting books on Scottish wildlife, history and culture.

Guests at the Woodland Retreat can also enjoy playing tennis on an astro grass tennis court. The court is a short distance from the cottage and has the same stunning views across the Strathearn Valley.

Visitors can enjoy many wonderful walks through private woodlands and along the River Earn, where they can see fish jumping, deer, pheasant, partridge and red squirrels crossing woodland trails and birds of prey soaring overhead.

The Woodland Retreat is also centrally positioned to visit top tourist attractions; The City of Perth, Glenturret whisky distillery, Drummond Castle Gardens and Crieff are only 15mins from the cottage. Scone Palace, Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument are all easily accessible in under 30mins as is Loch Tay and the Scottish Highlands.

Edinburgh and Glasgow are both reached within an hour, making the Woodland Retreat the ideal base for a holiday in Scotland.

A slice of Scottish heaven !
Fantastic hosts who went above and beyond to accommodate are stay. The retreat was luxury from start to finish with beautiful touches throughout the property to create the feeling of a home away from home. Wi-Fi connection was excellent and full cable services and digital apps available, which was perfect for rainy days. The beds where super comfy and I even returned home and purchased the same pillows that they had ! The hot tub and sauna where perfect after a day of skiing to come back to. I can honestly not fault this place at all, 15 minute drive to ASDA, Tesco, M&S Food Hal and Aldi. If your looking for peace and serenity, beautiful views and wildlife along with a touch of luxury then this is the place to book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Loved everything about this cottage , the owners have thought about everything. It helped that we had great weather so sat in the peaceful garden with our dog and watched the wildlife . We ate out at the Kirkstyle Inn food was lovely , it was busy so I would recommend booking . We also ate out at Gleneagles, both occasions we needed taxis which was expensive for the 10 min journey. Fabulous butchers in Auchterarder , swimming in Perth only 15/20mins away which our son loved the flumes. Fishing was great , hot tub was easy to light to heat up we used it every day . Will defo go back , peaceful chilled restful week just what we needed

September Break
Stunning property with everything that you need plus extras! Thanks for the prosecco in fridge and supplies. Excellent location as close to so many places to visit. Disappointed I didn't get time for a game of tennis! (Perhaps property is not ideal for dogs as they have to stay outside or in shed. We were out a lot and weather was good so not a problem.) Lisa and Jamie very hospitable and welcoming. Brenda

A fantastic week at the Woodland Retreat
A fantastically appointed property in a beautifully quiet setting - every little detail has been considered and the hosts are super helpful. Great location for exploring both the local countryside, lochs etc and further afield with excellent train links from Gleneagles to Stirling, Edinburgh & Glasgow.

Great cottage in quiet location
Lisa was a great host, the property is amazing. Very quiet location. Lisa provided detailed instructions on how to get to the property, which should be followed rather than trying to find the property on google maps. A number of towns around 15mins away (including Gleneagles) driving through country roads. Great place to relax or check out the area.

A real woodland treat!
We booked fairly last minute and really didn't know what to expect, but the day before our stay we had the most welcoming call from the owners who told us all the great spots to visit. On arrival we were blown away by the welcome with essential provisions in the fridge, a warm hot tub and the fire set ready to light. The cottage itself is well proportioned to give lots of space for families or just as a treat for couples. With a lovely clean kitchen dining space, and some cosy sofas next to the log burner the open floor plan still manages to feel like different spaces despite being one room around a giant chimney. The setting is idilic, surrounded by a lovely wood with views south and west. The only critter-cism we could come up with, is the wild life would like to interrupt a perfectly quiet evening! If you get to stay in this lovely cottage, when you've pruned yourself enough in the tub be sure to visit the Kirkstyle Inn over in Dunning. It's a cracking pub with live music on a Sunday evening and a wonderful welcoming local atmosphere. We can't wait to get back.

Fabulous country retreat for a relaxing break!
4 ladies stayed over 3 nights celebrating a significant birthday. We had a ball! The weather was kind to us, so that was the cherry on top but the accommodation itself is fabulous. Location, cottage, amenities… all fab! The owners have really made a great job of renovating an old property to a very high standard & the attention to detail is something else. We would all highly recommend for a group of four, however that is made up; 2 couples, a family of four or like us a group of friends just wanting a relaxing getaway. The fact the property is really secluded just adds to the experience. The hot tub was great too, such great country views. Just brilliant!

Idyllic!
The Woodland Retreat is gorgeous and felt really luxurious. The setting is beautiful with views out over the surrounding valley to the mountains. We saw Hares, deer, red squirrels and plenty of bird life on the lawns just outside the cottage. Jamie and Lisa have thought of everything and even had the Swedish Hot Tub heated up for our arrival. If you are looking for a ‘retreat’ from a busy life then this is the perfect place!

Hands down Spectacular
This could be a very long raving review! Let me try to be precise. 1. Hosts are exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. Will give as much info and insight as you ask for while not overwhelming you with ideas. Lisa and her husband had the hot tub heated for us after a long day in Inverness - it is a wood burning hot tub and requires a few hours prep, so this was the ultimate gesture by our hosts! So so wonderful!! 2. Home has everything you need and then some extra special luxuries. We had a loaf of fresh bread and jam waiting when we arrived and let me tell you that was a life saver after traveling all day. Farm fresh eggs, coffee, tea and cream! We felt SO welcomed. 3. Bedding - heavenly, towels - large and fluffy, bath/hot tub robes - extra nice touch, tub - relaxing and HUGE, hot tub, sauna, fireplace, couches, all very comforting and practical! Seriously felt like home to us. Walking around inside, we loved the wooden floors that had that vintage sound, the double doors overlooking the front of the cottage in all its glory! Daily visits from pheasants and birds of all sorts. We saw a couple red squirrels and multiple deer. The sounds of the outdoors was as peaceful as could be 4. Kitchen has all the necessities and a nespresso machine with frother that works excellent. We cooked a couple meals, lunches. Eggs daily. 5. The accessibility to small town sites as well as easy access to the major highways was perfect for us. It was so good to go out exploring beautiful Scotland during the day and to come back to a quiet secluded home in the woods made our vacation top notch!! There are hundreds of positives I could write about this place. Let me end with this: my husband and I talked each morning about how to come back with our kids and their spouses. We’ve been formulating a plan and if we are able to return, we wouldn’t consider anywhere else. In fact we would do our best to get both the properties rented for a stay with 6 adults! I’ll be dreaming of Woodland Cottage for years until I can hopefully return someday. Thank you to the amazing hosts and all the care they put into our stay.
