Bug Infestation

PLEASE STAY AWAY! We had a very bad experience booking this villa in September. There was a massive bug infestation to the grounds and there were millions of bugs coming out of the stone walls at night m and covering the deck, breakfast table, the whole perimeter of the house and there were bugs even in the swimming pool. The only reason they didn’t get inside is because we kept the doors shut and stayed indoor. Every time we opened the door, we had to fight bugs and kills them not to come in. We notified the host immediately but the problem could not be resolved overnight as it is a massive infestation. We had to leave the property prematurely as it was not habitable and we could not use the deck, pool, outdoors showers, dining table and we had to keep all doors closed at night. In the morning we had to clean and collect 5 lb of a bag full of bugs just to be able to get on the outside. There were other issues in the villa int he bedrooms due to water damage from the week before. We booked through VRBO.com and requested a refund as they were aware of the situation from the beginning. It’s been 2 weeks and the host returned only half the booking fees and kept the rest for no good reason. VRBO has also been very uncooperative and we are now left with no choice but to seek compensation in court. If this type of a massive bug infestation does not constitute grounds for a full refund, we does not understand what else have to happen for this host and VRBO to refund us?
